Blurb (from goodreads):
As a world-ending war surges to life around them, Todd and Viola face monstrous decisions. The indigenous Spackle, thinking and acting as one, have mobilized to avenge their murdered people. Ruthless human leaders prepare to defend their factions at all costs, even as a convoy of new settlers approaches.
And as the ceaseless Noise lays all thoughts bare, the projected will of the few threatens to overwhelm the desperate desire of the many. The consequences of each action, each word, are unspeakably vast: To follow a tyrant or a terrorist? To save the life of the one you love most or thousands of strangers? To believe in redemption or assume it is lost? Becoming adults amid the turmoil, Todd and Viola question all they have known, racing through horror and outrage toward a shocking finale.
My Scores: Re-read
Writing Style: Top Notch
Oh my gosh, he added the POV of 1017, the spackle that hated Todd so much. The voice of 1017 is so completely different from both Todd and Viola. The culture of the spackle reminded me of the Native Americans because they referred to each other as “the sky” or “the land.”
Characters: Absolutely Amazing
A moment of silence for all the wonderful characters who were harmed in the making of this novel.
Plot: So Many Plot Twists
The plot is completely unpredictable. You never know what these flawed, anxious, bitter, or war-driven characters are going to do. I couldn’t believe how twisted the world ended up.
Overall: Totally Obsessed
I want more! That’s the feeling I got after I finished this book. I want more! Did it really just end? I can’t believe it ended! How am I going to replace what I just read?
